Has anyone ever thought that the verse in the Old Testament talking about how we are made in the image of God doesn’t refer to our physical bodies but our spirits? It’s an interesting thought that I had this morning and it would have a whole new take on things. I mean there is a fossil record proving that we adapted from the Neanderthal (or whatever). So let’s say we did that would mean that if you were to take that verse literally to mean that our physical bodies are in God’s image than either the fossils (our ancestors) were imperfect OR we are. But if you take that verse to mean our spirits than who cares what we adapted from and what our ancestors looked like or what we look like our what our progeny will look like.
And if you take that verse to mean our physical bodies than it brings up all the (ridiculous) arguments of - “is God a male or female, is God black or white, is God this or that……….” and the list goes on. But if you take the verse to mean our spirits than all those arguments are moot because a spirit is neither male nor female, black nor white, Jew nor Greek and so on.
So yeah, just an interesting thought that I figured I’d share with ya’ll. Let me know what you think.
