Galactic Ocean pt. II

September 15, 2009

“I don’t know,” You answer softly.

You hear Alexer leave after a few minutes and breathe a sigh of relief.  You reach into your jacket and pull out the blank piece of paper and red crayon that you finally got your hands on.  It took you four years but you finally had it.  You gently touch the crayon to the paper and draw a line.  It stains the paper like blood and you shudder.  You draw another line and pause, a picture comes into your mind and you experience a moment of panic.  You hurry to capture the picture on the paper.  You breathe a different sigh of relief as you lift the crayon and look at what you’ve created.  It seems simple and yet astonishingly beautiful.  You clasp it to your chest and smile to yourself.  The intercom sounds, breaking your reverie.  You gasp and jump, looking around in shame.  If they caught you…  If they found out what you did, what you created… You look around as though the very walls could betray your act.  You shove the piece of paper and crayon hurriedly into your jacket pocket and smooth the fabric of your pants.  The intercom sounds again and you walk out of the room into the hall joining the flow of humanity as they all head towards their ships.

Pt. III to follow
